Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that this step will not only strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, but will also contribute to the development of the British defense sector, creating new jobs.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine clarified that the aid includes LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) interceptor missiles and launchers. They have already proved effective in countering Shahid drones during the 2022-2024 war.
The deal is being financed through a loan from the UK Export Finance (UKEF), a British government agency. The project will be implemented in cooperation with the British company Thales, as well as with the participation of Ukrainian enterprises and government agencies.
In addition to the supply of weapons, the agreement provides for the localization of production and technology transfer, which will allow Ukraine to strengthen its own defense industry.
Earlier, it was reported that in 2024, Ukraine received only 50% of the promised US military aid.
